Engagement Celebrations Planning Tips
The holiday season has the largest number of marriage proposals over any other season. Which means now is about the time when people will be planning their engagement celebrations. Typically an engagement party is held 2-3 months after the proposal.
It is formal way to announce an engagement and celebrate the union between the bride and groom and their families.
Let’s get to planning:
Eight to Ten Weeks Prior:
- Pick your theme or color scheme.
- Decide if you want to have a formal party or a more relaxed party.
- Take into consideration the personalities of the combining families.
Eight to Six Weeks Prior:
- Start considering your guest list. Note that typically, you only invite guests that you will be inviting to the wedding.
- For your venue, look into banquet halls, the beach, a boat, the park, a vineyard, restaurants and more.
- Your next step will be to decide on a time. If it’s during normal meal times such as noon or 6:00PM plan on serving a full meal.
Five to Six Weeks Prior:
- Send out your invitations. If you planned on having a formal party send out a formal invite in the mail. If you are planning on having a more causal party an evite will work.
- Based on your party style and what time you plan on hosting it, you can now finalize your food and drink choices.
Four Weeks Prior:
- Pick your activities if you are going to have some
Activity Ideas:
- Toasts by the father of the bride and one possibly by the groom
- Guest sign in book or photo
- Exchange of love tokens by the couple and family members
Three Weeks Prior:
– Choose your party favors.
